Tablescape Thursday - "A Breath of Fresh Air" Thank You Lunch

Hello! Welcome to Tablescape Thursday. Today I am sharing "A Breath of Fresh Air" - a Thank You luncheon table to honor some wonderful volunteers. Since Spring is just a hop away, I wanted to keep this week's color pallet soft and sunny so I have used golden yellow, fresh leaf green and creamy white. Birds and peonies carry through on the spring theme. The table is set for a salad and loaded baked potato luncheon so while I wanted it to be special and springy, I didn't want the table to be too formal. Relaxed and elegant were the key words. Let's take a tour. I chose not to use a tablecloth but opted to use golden yellow placemats in hem stitched linen. A crocheted square table topper is too small for the table so it was bunched up in the center to add texture, contrast and a touch of vintage elegance.
A linen THANK YOU note card from "Always Anna" served as my inspiration. The card is a lovely yellow and brown floral print embellished with a brown and white ribbon. To play off the brown accents on the card, a chocolate brown satin napkin is folded and tucked between the dinner plate and salad plate.

Fresh green ivy leaves are scattered across the table top to evoke the feeling of a fresh Spring day. The green and yellow complement the warm honeyed tones of the wood table.

A tall, elegant ceramic urn in creamy white stands in as the focal point of the centerpiece.

Creamy yellow and white peonies flank either side of the urn and add freshness to the table.

Little birds, 6 in all, perch among the leaves and lace reminding us that Spring is just around the corner. Vanilla votive candles shimmer in crystal votive cups.

To carry the yellow, brown and creamy white theme throughout the room, a platter in the same colors is displayed on a buffet table near-by.

A vase of creamy white flowers complement the color scheme and carry the theme around the dinning room. A soft yellow pillar candle in a grand hurricane plays up the soft buttery color in the placemats.

I like to use lamp light during the day, especially during special occasions. It warms up the room and adds a good dose of ambiance. Votive candles are another favorite of mine for day-time dining. Nothing says "Welcome" more than the glow of soft, inviting light.

I hope you have enjoyed your "Breath of Fresh Air". Why not host your own appreciation luncheon for someone or some group of hard working people whose efforts make this world a better place. People need a little encouragement and hope in their lives and we should all take time to appreciate those around us. So go for it and happy entertaining! Remember, it doesn't have to be expensive or difficult to be good. It just has to be from the heart! Be sure to visit Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for more tablescape inspiration. Friday we are going to take a look at a Shabby Chic towel tower that is finding a new purpose in my breakfast room. I hope you will stop by to check it out. Until then,
Happy Entertaining!
~Alisa

Yellow tones just create such a warm ambiance. I love it! On another note, I'm gonna make that tortilla, replacing the chicken with shrimp (since I don't eat meat), I can taste the deliciousness already.

Alisa, I LOVE THIS TABLE! I think it's my favorite., after your Tiffany blue of a few weeks back. I love the way you combined all the colors from the Thankyou card., and the way you sandwiched the napkin between the plates., so pretty! The other thing I loved was how you took the table topper and crunched it in the center of the table for a different flare... (grab a tissue today before you visit my Tablescape., I didn't write in my post., but the husband has early stages of Alzheimers., you will love their love story) ~CC Catherine

Since I am in charge of "dressing" the tables every month for my church's women's meetings, I'm always on the lookout for new ideas. You tablescape certainly gives me lots of inspiration. Thank you.
Thanks, also, for stopping by BzPlace. Hope you'll come back again.

Hi

The Lord Complete Audio English Quran in MP3 Translated by Pickthal

Islam is a racist, afro-centric cult because:

Nation of Islam espouses the superiority of the black man

The Nation of Islam recognizes God as a black man

One of the great misconceptions of the twentieth century is that the so-called `Nation of Islam' is a Muslim community, or more precisely: a community which submits to Allah by following the Qur'an and Sunnah. The `Nation of Islam' is a man-made way of life which borrowed some elements of Islam and then mixed them with a large number of inventions and lies to reach their present doctrines.

It suffices to point out the `Nation of Islam's deviation in two areas. First, they reject the essence of Islam by concocting a story wherein the Creator takes the form of a black man. From their on-line publications, we find that the `Nation of Islam' believes in

...one God (Allah) and that Allah (God) appeared in the Person of Master W. Fard Muhammad, July, 1930; the long awaited `Messiah' of the Christians and the `Mahdi' of the Muslims...

However, the Creator states in the Qur'an (translation),

[6:103] No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things.

The `Nation of Islam' also claims that white men are `devils', and that black people are in general superior to all other races. However, from the Sunnah, specifically in the Messenger of Allah's farewell sermon, we find the Messenger (pbuh) saying:

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over a white - except by piety and good action.

There are many other beliefs which the `Nation of Islam' holds which take it outside of Islam. It is interesting to note that in the mid-1970's, the overwhelming majority of the group realized its errors and converted to true Islam. There is, however, a splinter group which remains active today.
