WELCOME to CAROLINA PANACHE! I believe our homes should be a haven, a place of beauty and peace that reflect who we are and what's important to us. I'm on a journey to add personality and panache to every corner of my house. For me, good design evolves, grows and changes with the needs of one's lifestyle. I want my home to be creative, to be stylish, to be entertaining, to be real. I hope you will join me on my journey. It's always more fun to travel together.
This blog is all about bringing style and elegance to the home. The art of dressing your home goes beyond hanging a few items on the wall and arranging furniture. Much like a fabulous set of earrings or a new stylish handbag may take your little black dress from fine to fabulous, home accesories and key furnishings can take your rooms from ho-hum to singing the Halleluiah Chorus! Join with me as we discover new ways to add panache to every room of the house.

Outdoor Wednesday - Longing for Spring

Welcome to OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY! This lovely event is hosted by Susan at (A Southern Day Dreamer) please pay her a little visit and view all the participants in OW.
Is anyone longing for Spring yet? We've had some beautiful weather and sunny days hit my corner of NC and so I've been bitten by "spring fever" and Valentine's Day isn't even here yet. I've already started planning my spring plantings and I thought I would take a little vote. Last year we used purple, lavender and lilac in all of our planter beds. It really was pretty. However, I like to change things up each year and so I am trying to make up my mind about this year's color scheme. A) Yellow & White or B) Red and Pink or C) Lilac and Orchid. After looking through my pictures from last year please leave me a comment with your vote. This is the front of my house. We took this picture just after we had planed lilac petunias in the from bed by the walkway.
At the end of our driveway next to the street, we have an annual bed full of phlox. They are orchid and periwinkle and this was the inspiration for my color scheme last year.

At the opposite corner from the phlox, we have another planter bed and it was filled with petunias and impatiens. I don't have a picture of this but to the far right of the picture I have Tulip Magnolia. When it blooms it produces the loveliest little purple-pink flowers.

By the front walk, my husband planted a purple daisy bush. By the end of the season it was huge. And it bloomed all season thanks to a husband with a "green thumb". My Bunny was nestled down deep under the foliage where he spent the summer.

I loved the dark purple center surrounded by the lilac colored petals.

This is a shot of the world's smallest bird. It is called a Bubble Bee Humming Bird. He visited our petunia bed almost daily. When my husband first discovered him, he thought it was a bee but then he caught a glimpse of him up close and realized it was a Humming Bird.

Oops-a-daisy! More Daisies!

Leo is my favorite yard statue. He is nestled among my boxwood bushes and stands watch proudly by my entry. At his feet we planted three daisy plants that grew strong and tall.
Well that's the end of the tour. I hope you have enjoyed looking at a little bit of a NC Spring. Don't forget to cast your vote for my color scheme. Once we are sure that the last threat of frost is past, we will begin adding tender plants to our cultivated and watered soil then let God do the rest! I'm sure you will be seeing plenty of pictures as the months go along. Until then,
Happy Gardening!
~Alisa

Your home is beautiful Carolina, the purples and lilacs look so pretty, with the garden statues, I love to see Red in a garden so my choice for this year would be Red and Pinks. The little humming bird is just adorable, Kathy.

Your photos are lovely, and you can't go wrong with any of your color combinations. I say go for the gusto with red/pink. Those are vibrant colors and you can do a lot with Independence Day and also transition into autumn.

Blessings, Lana

Your house is beautiful, and you do a lovely job landscaping! I think I would do the red and pink this year for a great punch of color. I'm sure whatever you choose will be spectacular!

What a lovely home and garden you have.
I have the small hummingbirds visit my home as well, but never knew what they were called. I'm glad I learned something new today.
