Tablescape Thursday - Breakfast at Tiffany's

Hello! Welcome to "Breakfast at Tiffany's" or rather to TABLESCAPE THURSDAY! This weekly event is hosted by our lovely friend, Susan at (Between Naps on the Porch). So for more inspiring table arrangements, please pay Susan a visit and view the entire list of participants. Today's table is all about elegance and sophistication. Set especially for a best friend's birthday party where only a tight circle of the closest friends gather to celebrate another year and the life of one of their own. I remember when I received my first gift from Tiffany's many years ago. The iconic aqua and white gift wrapped box tucked into the ever famous Tiffany's gift bag was almost gift enough. I still have it! I carefully packed it away in a mementos chest where I keep special sentimental items. There's just something special about Tiffany's especially when the gift comes from someone you truly love and you know loves you. Let's take a look at the table.
The table is layered in a pure white damask table cloth. Aqua raw silk placemats are then added to create our Tiffany's color story.

A matching white damask napkin is slipped into a sterling silver ring and then tied with aqua ribbon. An ivory dinner plate edged in gold was used and a cream and white salad plate from another pattern was laid on top. Silver flatware edged in Gold was selected for this table. Crystal goblets and water glasses also ringed with Gold completes the placesetting. Giant-sized acrylic "diamonds" were scattered around the placemat and the center of the table.

Of course a table in honor of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" requires the presence of none other than Audrey Hepburn herself. So short of calling back the dead, I used miniature copies of the original movie poster.

Adding more bling, I took vintage crystal brooches and slipped them over aqua tulle. This brooch is a replica of the one Marilyn Monroe wore in "Some Like it Hot". I was fortunate enough to acquire it from a friend in FL who was selling off her deceased loved ones jewelry. I couldn't believe she wanted to sell it, but she said it wasn't her style and so it would lay unforgotten in a jewelry chest if someone didn't buy it. I literally jumped at the chance.

This is another piece I purchased from the same friend. It came with matching earrings and dates back to the 1920's. The earrings are the old fashioned clips and I can't wear them but I am looking for someone to convert them to posts for me.

Here is yet another vintage brooch. This one has tear-drop shaped beads that dangle and sparkle in the light. It has a matching bracelet.

This is the only piece that is not vintage. I actually earned this piece at my Premier Designs jewelry party. I know these photos are a little dark but I couldn't use my flash because it washed out the detail.

I used a floral arrangement in all white blooms and mixed in mercury glass and milk glass candle holders with white pillars.

I clustered a white pearl necklace around the base of the centerpiece.

The salad plate is a piece from Aristocrat. The pattern is "Ambiance". It is an 8" square. I love the detail around the edge. The plate is cream and the raised detail is ivory.

The dinner plate is from Baum Bros. It is from their Formalities collection and the pattern is "Bernadotte Ivory". They are Fine Bohemian Porcelain made in the Czech Republic. I have several pieces from this pattern; plates, bowls, salad plates, platters, serving dishes. I try to pick up pieces when I find them. I have about 10 dinner plates and four to six of the small pieces.

I am using Crystal goblets and tumblers by Shannon. I do not know the pattern. These were gifts from my Mother-in-Law, Ann. (Thank you, Mama :-)

Here is a close up shot of the napkin. I simply tied the ribbon around the silver napkin ring to add color and to play off the famous satin ribbon tied on every Tiffany's gift box.

Well, I hope you enjoyed the table tour. This color scheme works great for birthday parties of your best girl friends, bridal or wedding showers, baby showers or Mother's Day brunches. It's so fresh and calming. Tomorrow is TGIF and I will be sharing a little project for turning family photos into an art gallery collection for your walls. I hope you will join me. Until then,
Happy Decorating!
~Alisa

I am having an anniversary party for my daughter and her husband in March. I will be using your ideas for this luncheon. All her wedding party is scattered throughout the US now but I am still going to do what I can in getting as many here as possible! Ashley's husband was a girl's dream: Tiffany engagement present and a Tiffany wedding present!

I LOVE YOUR TABLE! It would be so much fun for friends to sit & celebrate being together. The color, big diamonds scattered about & the vintage broches are my favorite part of the whole thing. Clever! Glad you stopped by my little world & liked the birdhouse I showed in the setting. I have a number of birdhouses, cages, feeders. I love birds (to look at but, I don't want a live one inside) Have a great Thursday!

This is classic beauty. I was too lazy to set a table this week but you've inspired to do so for the next. I love the antique broaches. I have similar broaches but they aren't antique. I would love to be a guest at this table(however, you may find some pieces missing at the end of the evening). Thank you very much for sharing.

I loved your table. First off the colors captured and drew me right in. The antique brooches not only wonderful but what a lovely way to use them. I noticed the pearls around your centerpiece right away and thought them to be a perfect touch. The detail is equisite and who best to be included at Breakfast at Tiffanys but the timeless and elegant Audrey Hepburn. As always perfection. Thank you for sharing.

One of these days I will do TT! Right now I'm just observing & taking notes! ;-)

A beautiful and elegant tablescape. And those vintage brooches are gorgeous, and add such bling to the table. I love all of it. What a great idea to tie ribbon around the napkin ring. I often tie one around the napkin, but this would be so much easier to remove from the hapkin. laurie
