WELCOME to Tablescape Thursday!
Thursday's are one of my favorite days! I love looking at all the creative ways that we design tables for all types of entertaining. Tablescaping and beautiful dishes are two of my passions. Recently, I've been seeing alot of paper and plastic plates and dishes designed for pretty but casual entertaining. Sometimes it's good to have the convenience of paper - when your event is through, clean up is SO easy! I'm having a few girls over for lunch and wanted a pretty table but I didn't want to spend an hour afterwards doing dishes! This week's table is "Sweet and Simple" and it features paper plates and napkins I found at Pier 1 while shopping with my BFF before Easter. Let's take a look: The white lace tablecloth is actually made from a soft, drape-y plastic. I found this at a yard sale for $1. I used my Tiffany blue placemats and the metal flower chargers that I picked up at Target after Easter. They were on clearance. I love the wrought-iron and distressed look.
The paper plates are so sweet. The dessert/salad plate is rimmed with a Tiffany blue border and there is a little bird's nest in the center with Robin's Egg blue eggs. I am using my Bamboo flatware today.
A simple pot of silk tulips was just the right scale for my "scaled-down" table. I had Mr. Panache collapse the extra leaf. The table is a unique design and instead of removing an extra leaf, you just collapse it underneath the table. When I have a larger group, the table expands to seat 8.
In keeping with the Bird theme, I found these two iron bird statues that I used last year on my outdoor table. They are a little weathered but they work perfectly with the chargers.

The paper luncheon plate features a damask border designed in Tiffany blue with a chocolate brown ring around the inner circle. A single bird - is that a Wren?- is printed on the plate.
Here is a better look at the dessert / salad plate. The border is speckled just like a bird's egg.
Remember my Dollar Tree goblets? These are by Libbey and each one was $1. You can't beat that!
The Bamboo flatware is perfect for Spring or Summer tablescapes. I picked up a service set for 4 at HomeGoods then a few weeks later, I found the same set at Ross and they were $5 cheaper! Yeah, I brought them home. Now I have the perfect 8.
Having a pretty table can be simple, inexpensive and easy. Keeping your eyes open to great colors, shapes and materials will give you plenty of inspiration. The other day I was at TJMaxx and they had an entire shelf filled with colorful and patterned paper napkins, paper plates and accessories. Most of the packages were $1.69 each. I picked up several packages in different colors and patterns. One is a cream and black toile with a red border. I can't wait to use them in an upcoming 'scape. Don't forget to go over to see Susan at Between Naps on the Porch and visit each Tablescaper for inspiration! Until I see you again,
Happy Decorating!

I LOVE this table setting you've done. You are so right that every once in while, easy is best! But the blues match so perfectly and the chargers are great! I need to keep my eyes open for those!
I'm so excited to have a new friend to follow! I'll be back often!
Have a great day! Karen

LOVE the chargers... soooo UNIQUE and beautiful!
Hi Alisa,
I love your table as usual. I saw those weathered chargers at Target and loved them but didn't get them. I was fun seeing them on your table and you are absolutely right, sometimes you just need to use paper. Yours are charming.
Maryrose
I love your table setting! It looks springy! Just right for this season! :)
Blessings,
Sandra
How sweet! I do wish those plates were real - I would buy them in a minute. You did a lovely job with your tablescape and it is so nice sometimes to just relax and enjoy the event rather than worrying about the clean-up. I find many times, that takes away from the fun of entertaining.
Charla
Those are the prettiest paper plates I've ever seen, and they look so pretty with your place mats. This table looks lovely. Thank you for the inspiration. laurie
This table is just beautiful!! I love the paper plate, they actually look so real! What a great table setting and such great bargains...love it!!

Alisa, this is lovely! I love to use pretty paper products...I pick them up here and there as well!
I just LOVE those wire chargers...I did not see those at our Target. I wonder if they put different things in different areas?
Happy weekend!
;-D
This is beautiful. Love the colors. Check out my Wednesday's post to see the robins eggs from the nest on my porch. So, so pretty. God comes up with the best colors:)
I tell ya! From a distance you can't tell you have paper plates on the table! It all looks so pretty in that tiffany blue. Don't you just love how beautiful some of these "use once throw away" plates are! You came up with a very pretty table once again! Happy TT!
What a beautiful table! You would never even know they were paper just by looking at them. I always just use plain old white ones for us when we want to clean up in a hurry, but I'll have to keep your idea in mind when having company and doing a quick cleanup.
Don't think I've ever seen such elegant paper plates! Very pretty!
I just jumped over from Rue's Blog. I just wanted to say Hi and nice blog!
I love that table!
Carolyn
I just love the plates! They are too pretty to eat on, paper or not! :) Really like the metal chargers, too! All simple, yet beautiful and charming! :) ~hugs, Rhonda
You have convinced me that paper can be beautiful. That is a lovely table all the way around! I am so sad I somehow missed those chargers at Target. I was at ours the day after Easter. I really don't think they had them.
They are exquisite...adding so much to your tablescape.
These are paper plates???
Oh my goodness they are simply gorgeous!
You always amaze me my friend.
It's all stunning! :)
Love your tablescape...The paper plates are precious and of course, I love the chargers and the flatware....beautiful setting!
Your Tablescape is so pretty! I do love the paper plates and those wonderful chargers. Hubby has been working on me some iron chargers. Now here I see yours, Just love them the place mat looks wonderful with plates. I been looking at your other tablescapes and I also love your platter, bean pot! Your new blue chargers. The fabric on the table with the flowers was just lovely.
Very pretty...I must have missed this last week..Love the colors..
Love this tablescape..had you considered putting a plastic tablecloth under that lacey one, the color of your dishes? Or would it have been too busy? Often when I don't have a colored fabric tablecloth, and I want to use my lace tablecloth, I will go to the party store and buy a plastic one in the color I want to coordinate the look I'm going for. I've even used a colored sheet under the lace tablecloth.
Alisa, I love the bird table! By chance, do you have extras of the paper plates remaining? I'm hosting a baby shower with this exact theme! Unfortunately, the Pier 1 in my area only has the dessert plates remaining in stock. I'd be happy to pay for shipping.
Thanks!
