WELCOME to CAROLINA PANACHE! I believe our homes should be a haven, a place of beauty and peace that reflect who we are and what's important to us. I'm on a journey to add personality and panache to every corner of my house. For me, good design evolves, grows and changes with the needs of one's lifestyle. I want my home to be creative, to be stylish, to be entertaining, to be real. I hope you will join me on my journey. It's always more fun to travel together.
This blog is all about bringing style and elegance to the home. The art of dressing your home goes beyond hanging a few items on the wall and arranging furniture. Much like a fabulous set of earrings or a new stylish handbag may take your little black dress from fine to fabulous, home accesories and key furnishings can take your rooms from ho-hum to singing the Halleluiah Chorus! Join with me as we discover new ways to add panache to every room of the house.

Moneysaver Monday and My First Give-A-Way!

I LOVE to save money! What about you? If you listen to the news or read the headlines, now more than ever, Americans need to SAVE money! Some friends of mine have been sharing ideas on how to save and stretch our dollar. One of my friends is organizing a Children's clothing "Swap Meet". This is where mothers bring all of the clothes their children have outgrown and swap them with mothers who have the sizes they need. No money changes hands. It's just a way to help each other out. A local grocery store in my town offers triple coupon days once per month. I personally saved $84 on my grocery bill by clipping coupons and shopping for the pantry "staples" and canned goods during the triple coupon days. Another lady I know is carpooling to save money and planning her errands around her trips out to converse gas. Even though gas prices have gone down this is a good practice.
I would like to hear of ways that you are saving money and stretching your dollar. And to reward you for your participation and to help you save money in 2009, I am offering my first "GIVE-A-WAY". As I mentioned in my side bar, I have been affiliated with Home Interiors & Gifts for about 14 years. I recently was given a $100 Gift Card to use toward FREE home accessories and accents. I will be giving this g.c. to one lucky winner in a drawing on WEDNESDAY. Here's how you can enter:
  1. Leave me a comment and tell me how you are saving money and be entered once.
  2. Post something on your blog telling your friends and readers about the "give-a-way" and be entered twice.
  3. It's just that easy!

Below is a sampling of some of the items you can purchase with your gift card! Once the winner is drawn, I will contact the lucky ducky and we will make arrangements to get the gift card to you and give you all the details you need.

Thanks for participating! And spread the word! Comments will be accepted through WEDNESDAY, 12 noon, EST.

Tomorrow is TABLESCAPE TUESDAY and I will be posting a special VALENTINE'S Table.

See ya then!

My husband and I are brown bagging our lunches instead of eating out at lunch. When we have visitors in we now buy groceries and make special lunches for them instead of taking our customers out to eat.
This not only saves money, but saves time and we are not hurried to get back and finish our meeting.
I have several pieces of art work from home interior from years ago.
I am going to discuss with my daughters about each of us making 4 dishes and making enough for our three families and then we will have 12 dishes that we can freeze or have for 2 weeks. Saves time and money for all of us and lets them have good family quality time to be with their families; they speed a lot of time making dinner, homework with the kids etc. I think this could eliminate at least an hour each day. That's 5 hours saved each work week day.
Blossom
be with their families.

Hi Alisa, My hubby brings most of his lunches to work instead of eating out. I usually eat at home everyday since I'm here. Hubby also carpools with another guy he works with, they alternate weeks. I try to not waste gas by running all over town. I try to get everything done at once. I'm thankful gas is a little cheaper now, but who knows how long it will last! I will post on my blog soon, this is a great giveaway! Kristen

What a great idea, we all need to conserve energy and cash in this day and age. We eat almost all of our meals at home, never buy prepared goods at the grocers and always cook from scratch making enough for at least two meals. For gifts I have found our local Goodwill a wonderful place for those who love dishes. I have already done all my shopping for this year for my daughter there and got everything she asked me to look for and more for under $20 total. I also clip coupons and buy in bulk what is on sale. That has enabeled me to drastically cut my grocery bill. I can't wait to hear what others are doing. Marty

I've really re-committed myself to shopping with a list and to only grocery shop once a week. I have also been planning all meals and snacks, not just planning dinner and then getting a bunch of stuff to do for lunch and breakfast and snacks. We buy generic when we can.

My husband rides the train into work instead of driving saves us a lot in gas. He also takes his lunch instead of eating out but he has always done that.
Also, I found a part-time job that I could bring my child with me, that way I don't need day care.
We only go to the grocery store once a week with a list and use coupons.

I do a lot of thrifting. ;o) But seriously, I save a lot of money doing it. I buy for everybody in my family. Clothes, household items, etc...I save money for 3 households.

I rework that last piece of leftover meat into full dishes...either in soups or pastas. I toss all my "about to peter out" veggies into the freezer, freeze chicken carcasses & use them both to make my own chicken broth, saving over $3 for a carton of broth. I also freeze all trimmings off the veggies.

Got my brain on all the tables & can't think of anymore right now *grins*

What a wonderful giveaway you are doing. Years ago my home was a "home interiors" house! I haven't heard much of it lately.
We have always used coupons. Now with triple and double days - we usually get off half or more than what we pay for the groceries. It takes a little time and organizing, but worth it. We prefer name brand items, so this makes it more affordable. Not perfect - but do-able.

Hi Alisa,
How did I miss this? Oh I would love to be entered to win this giveaway!
What a lovely looking catalog of items.

I do make my husbands lunch everyday. The biggest money saver we have ever done was the purchase of his "PRIUS". The gas mileage is beyond awesome! He LOVES his car!

Thanks for having a giveaway!

I'm looking in closets and pulling out projects to finally complete and use. Like my collection of picture frames- with no pictures in them! No more buying until they are filled! Except for enlarging pics for the frame!
Thanks for your fun blog!

What an exciting giveaway! We have recently installed a programmable thermostat so that the heat is lowered at night while we sleep. We have turned off the outdoor gas lamps temporarily, and are using child friendly 'fire' logs to save on gas in the fireplace.

I've posted a link to your site at my blog. I'm a new blogger, so there isn't much traffic yet!

Just came upon your blog thru Tablescapes Tuesday. I used to spend alot at the grocery store, now I go through the store flyer the night before the prices go into effect and circle what I need, plus I only walk in with my list in hand. I allow myself 1 or 2 things maybe not on the list, but I stick to the list! I also use my "green" store shopping bags, I get a little credit plus it helps the environent too! I do all my errands in order to not waste gas. I have also sharpen my "on sales" skills! Te He! I will post your giveaway on my blog!Hope it's not to late!
